Old Town Spring

Tree Service in Old Town Spring

The oldest part of Spring, where the trees grew up around a rail town and now stand over shops, cottages and parking lots.

William Pierpont set up a trading post on Spring Creek in 1838, German farmers arrived in the 1840s, and the Houston and Great Northern Railroad came through in 1871. A sawmill near the tracks made lumber an important business for a time. In 1980 the Old Town Spring Association formed to promote the old town as a shopping village.

What that means for a tree call

Much of Old Town Spring is small buildings on small lots, many of them businesses, with trees that were there before the parking. A tree job here is often a commercial one: a limb over a storefront roof, roots lifting a walkway customers use, a dead tree near a gravel lot that fills on weekends.

Two things matter more here than in a newer subdivision. Work has to be timed around people, which usually means early or on a slow day. And access is tight; a bucket truck may not fit where a crane or a smaller crew would.

Near the creek

The town grew up by Spring Creek. Trees on low ground near a creek sit in wetter soil, and a saturated root plate is one reason a tree that stood for decades can go over in a long rain. If a tree near the creek has started to lean, treat it as a soon job, not a routine one.

If a tree is on a wire, call CenterPoint Energy before a tree crew, and 911 if anyone is in danger.
